Delicious

I was asked by a friend to write a poem on this white platter the other day which was to be given to a couple as their engagement gift. I have been nervous to start writing as I didn't think my writing was good enough.
I sat at the table this afternoon and was looking at it. Bridie came up to me and asked why I wasn't doing it, I told her that I was a little frightened to begin as I didn't want to mess it up. Bridie responded, " don't be frightened mum, you are good at it, be brave".

Balun was frightened by the thunderstorm tonight. He was eating his dinner when the thunder cracked. He couldn't get off the chair quick enough to hide under the kitchen table. We scooped him up and held him close. When it was bed time he twirled his hands in my hair and wouldn't let me go. His eyes full of worry waiting for that next bolt of light and crack of thunder.

To share these precious moments with Bridie and Bally is the most delicious and pure thing in the world to me.
