Wonder
I watched a film not long ago about a man who lived on his footpath.
From where he lived all the homes and families that surrounded him looked welcoming, kind and loved. The smell of home cooking would seep out from their windows, the glow from their lights created a warm and lived in home, the laughter and music he would hear.
It all looked pretty good.
From where he sat everyone around him seemed happy.
The homes and people that surrounded him watched him closely out in the open.
To them he looked sad, homeless and lost.
Both wondered about eachother.
How did they get there, why do they live like that, why did they choose this life, are they happy what do they do all day..............................
This man's life was not perfect but life is never perfect. It is just that his is out to view for everyone to judge.
Imagine if we could take all the walls down of every ones home. What a thought. I am sure you would see a different home inside to what you see on the outside.
Imagine seeing everyone going about their day to day life out in the open on the footpath.
There would be wonderful moments, new life, celebrations, boring moments, nothing moments, anxious moments, anger, sleep, loss, creativity, jealous moments, caring and sharing, cuddles and tears, laughter and love.
No body would be better, or nicer or cooler, they would be who they are living their life the best they know how.
Our homes are amazing little shells holding all those moments and thoughts in.
Each time I wander past an open window or hear something beautiful coming from a home, a celebration or sadness, I wonder, I wonder what that home is holding, what that home is feeling. A home can look beautiful, it can look horrible, but what is really hidden inside, behind those walls?
Like us, no one knows what that person is thinking or feeling as it is hidden beneath our clothes, our personalities, smiles, humour.... Our appearance isn't everything. Those moments and feelings are deep within us, hidden within us.
