A real piece of string

Bridie has been very close to me of late, which is lovely.
At night when she goes to bed and before going into school she gets a little emotional.
It's not a big cry just a little tear and she just needs a little cuddle and she is fine.
Today she became really upset and had a big cry before school, she let out all that sadness then she was fine to start her day.

I told Bridie that we need to come up with a way that we will always be connected.
We decided that we should have an imaginary string connected to her heart and the other end connected to mine.
Whenever she feels lonely, unsure, sad or even happy pull on it and I will feel it from my end. I can then send a little love and warmth back to her.
This has just pleased and comforted her little heart, "OK mum".

Today I decided to spoil her and brighten her day.So I bought her a beautiful bunch of flowers, white  roses as this is her favourite colour at the moment. I left them on her desk for when she returns home from school.
Just because I love her.
Next to it I have left a chocolate to make her smile and a long string.
A real string.
Tonight when she goes to bed I am going to tie one end to her bed and the other end to where I am.
We will be able to feel each other pulling on it rather then being an imaginary one.

A little fun tonight.
