Buttons

Friday night my beautiful family lost a baby boy who was 4 months old.
It has been the saddest, most confronting experience I have been through.
Our little boy was delivered at hospital and my daughter named him Buttons.
The hospital gave me a little blanket as a keepsake for him. Bridie my beautiful girl thought we should all choose a special button from the shops and sew it on to the blanket in memory of our little Button we lost.
Bridie chose a heart- "I have a caring heart mum and it will always care for him."
Balun chose a boat- "so he can always go on adventures."
Craig chose a bear reading a book- "so he can always listen to our stories at night and never be lonely."
I chose a star- "so my little Buttons will shine brightly every night for us, he will never be forgotten."
Bridie asked if we could put his blanket with the buttons and his teddy Santa gave him at Christmas in a box and when we wanted to be reminded of our Buttons or touch his blanket we can get it out of the box.
Bridie and I both cried but happy that our beautiful boy will be remembered forever.
While picking out our buttons we found a box, Bridie said "you chose the box mum because he was your baby boy and you are sad."
Bridie has slept with Buttons blanket and teddy the last two nights and asked why he could not be in our family. If I could only answer that my little darling.
He is now with the angels.
My beautiful girl you have helped me smile through this sad time.
