The simple things
It's nice to embrace and smile about the little things in life, the simple things.
We get a little caught up in the everyday run of things these were some simple things that made me smile the last few days.
Covering my little girls school books- Having a beer with Craig and Reece while they cut and contacted the books, myself covering them and Bridie sticking stickers all over them. It was lovely watching Bridie's excitement and creativity, laughing with a good friend and sharing the moment with Craig as our little girl is growing up.
A famous chef: Last night I watched an interview with Skye Gyngell, she was asked what her favourite meal was, the one that inspired her.
Her response was some fresh peaches while holidaying in Italy, it was the simplicity of the flat peaches laid out on the plate. They were delicious and inspired me to cook fresh, grow organic and create simple but delicious food. Her goal and the way she cooks was letting the food create memories, doing as little as possible to it.
An old family friend who is approaching 90 grabbing my hand and telling me that I was beautiful as a child and still today.
Being greeted by Balun Monday afternoon after work it is like I am the most wonderful and precious thing in his life. His words as he looked in my eyes, "I miss my mama" and then his gentle touch stroking my arms and face as he sat on my hip.
My paper daisy flowers flowering and just blossoming in the sunshine, they are beautiful.....
The kids yelling, "dad's home", then wait for him to stop, then climb in the car to be driven up the driveway. It's lovely to watch.
Chocolate.
The house wide open on the hot summer nights. The breeze flowing through the windows and doors and sakata's/crickets singing.
Bridie asking if she can have some binoculars for her birthday so she can see the world...............
