Turning 60
Tonight we were all sitting around the table having dinner for my dad's birthday who turned 59. It was nice, lots of laughing and joking and eating.
We also had a good family friend there sharing dinner with us. Our friend has recently lost his wife.
He was asked by one of us how old he was turning this year. He answered 60. He was then asked what are you doing for it?
He didn't say much and sort of shrugged his shoulders.
I looked at him and thought about what he would be thinking when asked that question.
I thought about his loving and beautiful wife and the love she would have put into his special day when he turned 60. I looked at our friend and for a moment I think he thought about her and what she would have done, how she would have organised his special day, taken it out of his hands and made him feel wonderful.
It's sad when someone is taken out of our lives and tonight I felt for him.
